Grand Cru Unicycle Clinic

Grand Cru, a society of beer snobs founded by three Team Rev members, sponsored an impromptu unicycle clinic at Lo’s this past Friday. Lo, by the way is the president of Grand Cru. In the spirit of the Olympics, the evening started out with a torch lighting ceremony. Members of Grand Cru’s executive branch showed some good old fashioned ingenuity by employing some of Lo’s old running shoe laces as wicks in the torches. The Olymic theme was hummed as the torches were lit. Despite a heavy dosing of torch fuel, the wicks failed to stay lit for more than about a half an hour. The torches may have dimmed, but the enthusiasm did not.
Shortly after the torch lighting, clinic participants began to arrive. The first twelve were given complimentary hand decorated t-shirts that boldly displayed the views of the GCS. There was a bit of multitasking occuring at the clinic. Although the purpose of the evening was unicycle skills, participants were also given the once in a lifetime opportunity to join the GCS.
The participants “limbered up” in Lo’s kitchen for a little while.
Once sufficiently “limbered up” Lo got the ball, I mean wheel, rolling. She strung together several 5 second rides along with several graceful and not so graceful dismounts. The clinic pupils observed in awe.
Next up was an expert demonstration by Urban Assault Limbo Champion Britt Whisenand. Once again, clinic participants were left speechless after observing the UA champ maintain a simultaneously upright and stationery position on the unicycle. Simply amazing!
The Grand Finale took place when cyclist extraordinaire and Team Rev founder Carrie Cash showed up and put on QUITE a demonstration of unicycle skills.
Clinic participants also engaged in cardio training for unicycling by engaging in a disco dancing that continued until 1 a.m. What stamina!
So there you have it. There is my recap of the Grand Cru Unicycle Clinic. Often times more is better, but sometimes one wheel is better than two, at least for entertainment purposes.

Roll on
One wheel at a time
