FrostBike 2010 ~ Transitioning From Road to Trail
When I looked out my window this morning I was greeted with inches of powdery white pretties covering my car and surrounding county neighborhood streets. My initial thought was, “We won’t be riding the road today”. But as I drove into the city hauling my skinny-treaded roadie I realized that a milder snowfall pattern had befallen the city – “We will be riding!” There was a wintery chill to the air and some of the streets had random snow and slick spots where parts of my bike accumulated the proof.
This was FrostBike at its finest – chilly headwinds, red noses collecting precious vitamin D, a pack of bundled women on bikes talking, laughing and enjoying a morning ride together through the streets of St. Louis.
Once off the road, Week 4 was successfully completed by some when t-shirt aquisition, coffee ordering and happy chatter commenced at the cafe. Afterwards, I headed to the woods where I was greeted by beautiful snow covered trails. The trail conditions were perfect and even better than yesterday because of the snow that had graced the southern region overnight. Who knew that one day I would actually enjoy winter?
Next up, FrostBike MTB hits the trails of Castlewood for another four weeks of biking fun in the cold and snow. You too can transition easily from road to trail by joining Team Revolution for our inaugural FrostBike MTB series. http://www.ridefrostbike.com
It is guaranteed to be a good time.
