FrostBike Road 2010

There is something that Team Revolution does right and that is… well, EVERYTHING!
Take FrostBike – Road http://www.ridefrostbike.com/ , for example. What else could get a large group of women outside in the winter weather to ride bikes? FrostBike does! FrostBike has been a great personal motivator to get me back out on the road. I’ve been so enamoured with my mountain bike, that I have severely neglected my Merlin “the magic” road bike. I’ve almost needed a reason to ride the roadie, and if bad trail conditions didn’t do it, FrostBike, did.
Last week, when St. Louis got hit with its first big winter snow storm, the roads were a bit too treaterous to ride. So instead, FrostBike Week One was an informative discussion about winter riding gear. After a year of trial and error, I finally found the cold weather gear that keeps my digits warm. Thanks to Steph M. I found Castelli Pioggia gloves from Big Shark and I’ll never need to test another pair. And Cat turned me on to my rockin Pearl Izumi shoe covers http://www.ems.com/product/index.jsp?productId=3655868 that Traci ordered from Alpine Shop and that I pair up with knee-high wool socks. These covers have no zippers and slide easily over my mountain bike shoe cleats. Both these local bike shops are Team Revolution sponsors and offer discounts on merchandise for members… another good reason to join Team Rev! See our local bike shop sponsors here: http://www.teamrevcycling.org/clubsponsors.html

FrostBike Week Two began with the event’s first official ride. Café Ventana http://cafeventana.com/index.php has been a great host site and the route from and to has been very enjoyable.

The route takes us downtown through the city of St. Louis and back up through historic Forest Park.

So if you need some motivation to get outside and play on your road bike, Team Revolution’s FrostBike series is your answer. The conversations are witty, the experience is invaluable and the comradery is priceless. Fourteen women rode Saturday and thirty-three rode on Sunday. It was a great and colorful sight to see rolling through the streets of St. Louis.
Another great thing that FrostBike will do is introduce you to Team Revolution and its members. If you like bicycles then Team Rev is the place for you. Team Rev has a member in just about any and every aspect of cycling you can imagine – advocacy, competition or recreation, road riding, mountain biking and everything inbetween. Become a member today by rolling your FrostBike rewards into membership. You’ll be glad you did!
Rev On!
